About Ragged Mountain String Band:
Ragged Mountain String Band was started in 2012 alongside the opening of Charlottesville watering hole, The Whiskey Jar, performing to this day as the house string band. Since then RMSB has released three full albums and played many local festivals like The Festy, Red Wing Roots and Richmond Bluegrass festival. They’ve been getting boots stomping at dozens of square dances and in 2017 toured New England. RMSB specializes in Appalachian old time music while playing barn-burning breakdowns, swinging rags and classic Stanley Brothers tunes, harmonies and all. Although they appeal to roots music and string band lovers RMSB doesn’t confine themselves to one genre. At a show you can hear them cover a range of music anywhere from the Clash to the Grateful Dead to Taj Mahal. RMSB plans to release another full album in 2019, so stay tuned for more ear candy from one of Charlottesville’s staple string bands.
