Grits and Gravy

Created by WTJU-FM radio DJs Robin Tomlin (The Rumcove) and Colin Powell, Grits and Gravy is Charlottesville's own soul, funk, and R&B dance party. You can find us every last Friday of the month downtown at R2, in the back room at Rapture.

In addition to our regular night, we've supported touring acts such as Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Charles Bradley, and The Budos Band on their stops in Charlottesville. Travels have taken us throughout Virginia, into DC, and as far as the Ponderosa Stomp in New Orleans for a set at the legendary Hip Drop opening party.

Expect to hear a rowdy mix of classic and rare R&B, raw soul thumpers, and heavy funk, all on original 45 RPM records.
